What is the W List?

For most of the couples we work with, booking the right wedding photographer is usually first on their list of priorities. Of all things you'll spend your money on, the photography is the only thing you'll have left once all the guests have gone and all the flowers have wilted. So make sure to take your time when choosing the person who is going to capture such an important milestone!

In The W List, our photographers have a lot of experience creating memories.  We have photographed overseas, in the heat of summer and in the coldest days of winter.  We have done weddings where things go smoothly and where the day brings on more challenges than you would like to see.

Why the W List?

Our styles, though consistent, vary from photographer to photographer, giving you a lot of choices, while maintaining a high level of quality and reliability.  While some of us are more fashion-oriented, others more romantic in style, all of us are committed to making your look and feel your best on your wedding day.  We know how to command the crowds that surround you and how to keep you on schedule for the whole day. We know how to work with natural light, but more importantly, in the absence of natural light, we have the skills necessary to use any available light, or studio lights to create a fantastic image.

Once the image is captured, each of us adds our own flare to it in the editing process.  All images taken in camera are colour-corrected and white-balanced in the first pass, then we make adjustments to contrast and levels and finally add any further filters that we feel will add the right emotion to the image.  This all might sound like complicated jargon to you, but it's in this part of the process that our vision comes to fruition.  For us, when we look through the camera, we're already imagining the shot as it will look after the finished process.  Though we use the same applications, the way that we arrive at our final images are different and unique to our personalities.

In short, when choosing one of our photographers, you can rest assured you'll receive world class service and a product that is guaranteed to last you a lifetime.

Who is the W List?
Off The Page Photography (Patty Boge)

Patty is a Brazilian photographer currently living in the prairies. Her approach to wedding photography is a storytelling one; getting her inspiration from her father, who put a camera in her hands at the age of five and encouraged her to capture every moment.  She has traveled the world in the pursuit of these moments and pours her heart into every image captured. Patty has an ability to translate a feeling into an image that will forever tell your story.

Jeremy Dueck Photography

Heavily influeced by the masters of the 40’s and 60’, Jeremy portrays his perspective on the energy and emotion of life. Experimenting with light and composition, his photographs reveal a refreshing purity and simplicity of vision. Every image has a purpose, however subtle, whic is to evoke an emotion. Any will do.

Manuel Sousa Photography

Involved in many international projects, Manuel Sousa has been framing his creative perspective of the world for 15 years. He thrives on his ability to capture a day of memories in a way that allows his clients to relive the feeling that persuaded them to hire a photographer in the first place. Manuel translates perfectly from the church aisle to the red carpet, as he has photographed celebrities such as Russell Crowe and Chantal Kreviazuk.

Joel Ross Photography

Passionate about capturing exactly what his clients envision in their minds, Joel’s camera observes the romantic and candid moments that when developed stir alive the emotions of extraordinary days gone by. His charisma and innate ability to identify with his clients guarantee breathtaking photos that materialize the perfect day. Joel has also contributed his services to the Earls Girls Calendar for the Cure in which all proceeds have gone to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Trevor Brucki Photography

Trevor renders a “contemporary, creative, and spontaneous” style to the moments his photographs successfully preserve for not only one lifetime, but for many lifetimes. He has the unique ability to interpret the true characteristics and personality of what he photographs, while offering his own impressive perspective. The real focus of the picture is often only revealed after it is developed. Trevor amazingly sees beyond the obvious and captures the subtle, but intimate innuendos occurring as the camera flashes.

Planning your time for your wedding day photographer

One of the most popular questions that I get when my clients are planning their day, is how much time they will need for photography and how many locations they should go to.

I have a rule of thumb that I live by, which is to devote one hour per location, per group.  So, one hour for the wedding party pictures, one hour for family and one hour for the couple.  Though this isn't always the case, it's a good guideline for making sure that you have enough time for everything and you're not rushing around wishing you'd had more time.

From this starting point, you can add more time, if you have more locations or more driving time, say for sunset shots at the beach, or sunflower fields just outside of town...

Another factor which adds to the time needed for photography is indoor locations.  Though reliable and needed in case of bad weather, indoor photography might take a little longer to set up, specially if your photographer is bringing along studio lights.  Prepare for this by being on time and making sure that your party is also on time - and confirm your indoor location the week of your wedding just to be on the safe side.

If you have a large wedding party, and would like a large variety of formations, as well as single shots with each member of your party, add a few more minutes as well.

Though you might think that family pictures should never take an hour, it's good to be conservative in planning your time for this, since many times family members might arrive late or need special attention - like elderly grandparents.  Making sure you have enough time here will guarantee that no one will be put off or upset.

Something that speeds up the time needed for photography on your wedding day is having a photographer with a lot of experience that takes control of your schedule, so that it's one less thing for you to worry about.  I like making sure that the couple is relaxed throughout their wedding day, and the best way to achieve this, is by making sure that I take over the schedule and (nicely) make sure that everyone is where they need to be - at the right time.

Between the five of us here at The W List, we have many years of experience and have dealt with more setbacks that you could probably dream of in a wedding day.  However, due to our experience and expertise, we are able to work within any circumstance and deliver amazing photography that will tell your story for years to come.
