Blurbs:
To give their wedding a cozier feel, John-Henry and Aimee chose to have a several long tables in exchange for the traditional circular tables and head table. “It was our favourite detail of the reception. The long head tables made it feel like one huge family gathering.”
“John-Henry is strong where I am weak, and he loves me more than I could ever dreamed of being loved. He respects me, always puts my needs first, and there is never a dull moment with him!”- Aimee
“All of the staff at Events by Emma are so friendly and enthusiastic. They made our dreams into reality and made our wedding showed our personalities. Emma always surprised us with little details that she added to make our day perfect. I am touched by how much Emma and her staff truly care about John-Henry and I!”
The Story:
Laughter and the buzz of chatting guests bounced off the glass ceilings of Terrace 55 as the warmth of candlelight and love filled the room. It was a wedding like no other. The family and friends of John-Henry and Aimee were gathered in the restaurant at the centre of Assiniboine Park for one reason—to celebrate the newlyweds’ commitment to spend forever together.
The journey to this romantic night was a sweet-as-can-be love story. Sixteen year old John-Henry saw Aimee for the first time at their youth group. Her gentle heart and sweet smile caught his eye and his love for her has only grown since that day. What could have once been mistaken for “just a teenage crush”, developed into a lifelong love that lead Aimee and John-Henry to a poolside proposal and a classy, yet cozy, wedding.
An intimate ceremony centered around the couple’s Christian faith was held on the second floor of Terrace Fifty-Five; light music from John-Henry’s brother-in-law’s acoustic filled the space. Aimee’s heart beat fast as the elevator doors opened to the second floor ceremony where the guests and her groom awaited. As soon as Aimee locked eyes with her adoring groom, her heart fell right into place and she couldn’t stop smiling.
Her beaming smile continued to be a stunning accessory at the reception. The room was lit with warm purple and blue lights, assortments of loose, fresh florals lined the middle of the five long tables, and hot chocolate mix in small jars were placed at each guests’ spot. John-Henry’s self-proclaimed obsession with denim made personalizing the decor quite simple. Denim details could be found everywhere: the table runners, bouquet stem wraps, denim shoes, and even the groom’s denim bow tie.
A poutine bar and a smores station was a perfect late night snack at this winter wedding. Guests drove home that night full of fabulous food and sweet treats, tired from dancing, and beaming from the romance of the day. John-Henry and Aimee’s denim detailed wedding was an unforgettable occasion— a perfect happily ever after.
